Mission Statement

Parks and Recreation Ontario is a non-profit association that advances the health, social and environmental benefits of quality recreation and parks through evidence-based practices, resources and collaborative partnerships.

 

STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS  

OBJECTIVES

 

Influencing:  Advance the development of government policy that ensures safe, affordable, accessible and quality recreation and parks opportunities and increase awareness of the importance and benefit of recreation and parks. 

 

 

Establish and maintain productive working relationships with all levels of government to align policy development with sector needs.
 

Communicate and collaborate with sector stakeholders to advance recreation and parks sector issues.
Provide leadership and direction for the implementation of government policy and programs.

 

 

Building Capacity:  Strengthen the capacity of sector stakeholders to help Ontarians to lead healthier lifestyles.

 

Develop and deliver evidence-based resources, educational experiences and networking opportunities to extend the capabilities and financial sustainability of sector stakeholders.
 

Identify and promote the health, social and environmental benefits of recreation and parks and the choices that Ontarians have.

 

Quality Assurance:  Strengthen quality standards to facilitate continuous improvement in service delivery.  

Position the HIGH FIVE® Quality Assurance Standard as an effective mechanism for measuring service delivery outcomes.
 

Research and initiate quality assurance frameworks in response to sector and demographic changes to assist stakeholders in the transfer of knowledge to operational practices.
 

Advance the development of and distribution of outcome measurement resources, tools and best practices to sector stakeholders.
