Parks and recreation transforms the life of Ontario's citizens and makes our communities vibrant and attractive places to live, work and play!  PRO works collaboratively on a wide range of initiatives to enhance the quality of life for all Ontarians through parks and recreation.

Working in partnership with stakeholders in health, education, planning and other fields, PRO participates in a number of collaborative projects.  Explore the initiatives in this section of the website and learn how you can benefit!

Current Partnership Initiatives

Play Works is a group of organizations concerned about the future of our youth. We represent the areas of sport, physical activity, civic engagement, arts and culture, rural youth, and recreation. We have joined forces to bring back the power of play to Ontario youth and are dedicated to advancing youth play on local and provincial public and political agendas.

June is Recreation and Parks Month is an exciting way to increase awareness of the value and important benefits of recreation and parks to individuals, families, and communities and an  opportunity to celebrate the success of recreation and parks in contributing to the quality of life in Ontario. 

Canadian Parks and Recreation Association is a national alliance of provincial and territorial parks and recreation associations.  Renewed in 2009, CPRA has three primary roles:

 

1.   Proactively educate about the benefits of parks and recreation

2.   Promote a national vision, research agenda, national policies and standards

3.   Connect all elements of the field through communication and liaison

 

And four services:

 

1.   Host national forums and conferences

2.   Deliver the Canadian Playground Safety Institute

3.   Manage a national awards program

4.   Coordinate the Everybody Gets to Play Initiative
