Special Announcement: Parks and Recreation Ontario CEO
February 10, 2023
It is with mixed emotions that PRO’s Board of Directors announces that Jenn Wilson will be stepping down as CEO, effective February 20th, 2023, to focus on her family’s well-being as they navigate a time of immense change. The Board expresses its gratitude for Jenn’s contributions to the organization and wishes her all the best in her future endeavours.
“My time with PRO has been a wonderful experience and I will miss being with the organization as it delivers on an ambitious agenda. However, I am confident that PRO’s Board and staff team will be able to execute on the important work ahead.” said Jenn Wilson.
During this time of transition, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce that former PRO Board Chair Jan Wilson has been appointed Interim CEO. Jan has over 35 years of experience leading in the parks and recreation sector and a deep understanding of PRO’s operations and culture. Since retiring from her position as the Commissioner of Parks, Recreation, Culture, and Corporate Facilities at the City of Windsor in 2021, Jan has served as the General Manager of the Can-Am Police Fire Games and has continued to volunteer her time with PRO.
“I am so pleased to take on the position of Interim CEO. As I enter this role, I’m looking forward to working with the Board of Directors and the staff team to deliver on our commitment to the members, partners, and communities we serve.” said Jan Wilson.
The Board has initiated a comprehensive recruitment process for a new CEO. Meanwhile, Jan will work closely with the Board and management team to ensure a smooth transition and PRO’s continued success.
“While I am saddened by Jenn’s departure, I am excited by the work that PRO is delivering and have confidence in our Interim CEO Jan Wilson’s ability to provide steady, strategic leadership as we search for a new CEO.” said Shari Lichterman, PRO Board Chair.
